Get Involved

Bookbanks would love your help.

Here are some ways that you can.

Currently, all our Bookbanks sites are fully staffed with volunteers but we will need more volunteers who have experience working with books when we open new sites in Spring 2025. If you think this could be you, please fill in THIS FORM and follow us on social media, where we will be publicising these opportunities when they arise.

Fundraise for Bookbanks

We rely on fundraising efforts from individuals and organisations in order to bring books to food banks and create spaces for conversation, inspiration and community.

If you’d like to fundraise for Bookbanks, please click on the ‘I want to fundraise for this’ button on the Bookbanks Donorbox page HERE. Please email us if you get stuck!

We have already given out more than 4,000 books, partnering with 4 food banks. These books have led to inspiring and meaningful conversations both at the Bookbanks stall and beyond, as guests take books home with them or give them on to other people in their lives.

Help us use books to build more communities by opening 5 new Bookbanks sites in 2025, partnering with food banks in London, Norfolk and Manchester.

Fundraising ideas:

Run for Bookbanks - Challenge yourself and raise money for us too! Find out more HERE.

Host a Bookbanks Readathon - Why not get your friends involved too? Feel free to contact us and we can let you know some of the most popular titles at your local Bookbanks site, for inspiration.

Hold a Bookbanks Bake sale - This is a great way to get friends and colleagues involved too.

Organise a Bookbanks Quiz - get in touch with us if you’d like us to ask Bookbanks guests for a question or two

Give to Bookbanks

We would welcome any financial donations to Bookbanks, to help us meet our aims to support our existing four sites and expand to open 4-6 new sites in 2025, partnering with more food banks and reaching new communities in 2025. These might be regular or one-off; even a small donation has a big impact.

Our grassroots structure means you’re making a real and immediate difference, bringing books to food banks to build opportunity and inspiration among individuals, strengthen communities and write fairer futures.

If you have books that you’d like to pass on, thank you for thinking of us.

Books can often be delivered to our sites during their opening hours (details HERE), but storage is at a premium at most food banks, especially at our Norfolk sites, so please don’t drop any books without emailing us first.

Please ensure the books are in good condition.

We currently have a particular need for:

  • Cookbooks

  • General non-fiction, including history, memoir, how to books and self-help.

  • Young adult books

If you work for an organisation that is interested in making regular book donations, please contact us here.

Thank you for helping us grow!
